The Kori Leigh Show

Welcome to The Kori Leigh Show. I am your host, Kori. I am a recovering alcoholic, mom, a former boss babe, while still being a business owner learning to submit to God and my husband - kind of woman. I’ve spent a lifetime dealing with mental health issues, addiction, a hardened heart and nervous system that was on perpetual overdrive from my dark and twisted past, trusting nobody. I entered into a couple decades of chaos and self-destruction after hitting rock bottom a few times and ultimately admitting defeat in December of 2016. I believe wholeheartedly that my moment of absolute desperation was the moment that saved my life, and it was here that I found God, and I am now on a perpetual journey of learning to heal, soften, and deepen my faith. I have found incredible strength and hope in being surrounded by other addicts in recovery, who share a common solution and are dedicated to living a life of serenity, service and sobriety. And I believe that sharing stories of experience, strength and hope have the power to open our hearts, transcend our doubts, and offer us the right amount of light, no matter how dark it’s gotten for us to make it through. God meets us in our mess and saves us because our mess is our service to the world. I know what it feels like to be lost. I know plaguing anxiety, dark depression, and an obsession to escape that has caused me to do unthinkable things to myself. I know hopelessness, I know faithlessness, I know paralyzing loneliness. But I also know recovery. I know hope. I know what it’s like to hit bottom, to surrender my will to a power greater than myself. I am to commit to living life according to spiritual principles that at first I did not trust, but that I have come now to totally transform my entire existence. What was once fake faith has turned into real faith and a life beyond what I could have ever imagined for myself. I am so glad you found this podcast. Though we may not always share the same stories, we often share the same feelings. And as a woman who was saved by God and fellowship, it is my greatest honor to be of service by bringing you stories from men and women who have felt the darkness, who hit rock bottom, and who have come to know faith and hope and serenity in a way that they never dreamt possible. As we say in recovery, find the similarities and not the differences - together we heal.

In this episode of The Kori Leigh Show, I dive deep into the concept of 'Future Self' and explore various perspectives on manifestation, scripting, and the role of visualizing future goals. Lets start with the reflection of my own spiritual crisis at 25, where I struggled with the balance between pursuing dreams and accepting life's inevitable ups and downs. By sharing my journey from initial beliefs in purely manifesting outcomes to reaching rock bottom through substance abuse and then finding solace in recovery, this episode conveys the importance of surrendering to a higher power while staying active in one's pursuits.

Throughout the episode, I want to emphasize the need for letting go of strict control and trusting in a divine plan, demonstrating how this approach has led to unexpected but profoundly rewarding outcomes in her life.

We explore the strong human tendency for approval and belonging, and how it often clashes with our need to be authentic. "Without God, I am a seed floating in the air; I literally cannot germinate. It doesn't matter how much I will it, mantra, or think about it. I need to be attached to my life force."

In this personal and emotional episode of The Kori Leigh Show, I explore the journey of rediscovering faith after hitting rock bottom. Prompted by a question from Instagram, I dig into my own experiences with a fearful and punitive perception of God, the rebellion and hatred that led me to abandon my faith, and the life-altering realization that brought me back to spirituality.

Through a candid narrative, I discuss how hitting multiple rock bottoms and embracing my darkest moments ultimately allowed me to reconnect with God and build a meaningful and abundant life guided by faith, prayer, and meditation.

'Faith is literally believing in that which we cannot see, and we are asked to trust this non-linear path that sometimes feels like regression.'
In this episode of The Kori Leigh Show, I dig into the often overlooked yet fundamental concept of slowing down and living in the present. In a world overwhelmed with fast-paced demands and future-oriented goals, I emphasize the importance of mastering the art of presence. Through personal anecdotes and metaphors, such as the journey of achieving a 300-pound deadlift and the timeless tale of the tortoise and the hare,

I hope this gives you insight how embracing the mundane and trusting in God's will for the present moment can lead to profound progress and emotional intelligence. This reflective journey aims to shift our perspective from incessant hustle to intentionality, and from future-tripping to the magical now.

'Just because somebody else may have had it worse does not diminish the fact that your story matters, that your feelings matter, and that the only way that we can possibly begin to heal and to find peace and forgiveness within our own stories is to acknowledge the way that our stories and our lives have impacted us.'

In this episode of The Kori Leigh Show, I dig right into the concept of hitting rock bottom and the transformative power of desperation. I share my personal experiences with mental health and alcoholism, challenging the stereotypical image of rock bottom. I emphasize the importance of validating one's own struggles without comparison to others.
I discuss the significance of addressing impostor syndrome, lack of confidence, and fear, and highlight the impact of sharing stories in a group setting. My narrative offers an honest portrayal of my journey through multiple bottoms, including an abusive relationship and addiction, underscoring the internal pain that drives change.
